چکیده

Abstract Sustainability use of expensive protein source in a dairy ration requires formulation based on rumen degradable and undegradable ratio (RDUP). It improves the efficiency microbial synthesis less feed residue to environment. Providing green sources such as leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) is also an alternative. This study aimed evaluate effect RDUP with addition vitro fermentability digestibility. was conducted 4 x 3 factorial randomized block design. Factor 1 levels (R1= 60:40; R2= 55:45; R3= 50:50; R4= 45:55) factor 2 Leucaena (L1= 10%; L2= 20%; L3= 30%). The data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan test. result showed that increasing increased NH concentration dry matter Treatment L2 resulted high NH3 compared other L treatments. combination R1 L3 highest total VFA than Protozoa population ration. concluded 60:40 20% can improve ruminal fermentation

Effects of Rumen Undegradable Protein on Productive Performance and N Balance of Holstein Cows in Early Post-Partum Period

Metabolizable protein (MP) supply and amino acid balance were manipulated through selection of highly digestible rumen-undegradable protein (RUP) sources. Effects on production efficiency and N utilization of early post-partum dairy cows were determined. Forty-two multiparous and 16 primiparous Holstein cows were assigned to the diets in a randomized complete block design immediately after part...

The effect of rumen degradable and rumen undegradable intake protein on feedlot performance and carcass merit in heavy yearling steers.

A total of 432 crossbred yearling steers (395 kg +/- 6.35) were used in a randomized block experiment to study the effects of rumen degradable intake protein (DIP) and rumen undegradable intake protein (UIP) concentration on feedlot performance and carcass merit. The 6 dietary treatments used for this study included 1) a 10.5% CP diet with 5.1% UIP and 5.4% DIP (DIP5); 2) an 11.5% CP diet with ...

Responses of Dairy Cows to Supplemental Highly Digestible Rumen Undegradable Protein and Rumen-protected Forms of Methionine*

Metabolizable protein (MP) supply and amino acid balance in the intestine were manipulated through selection of highly digestible rumen-undegradable protein (RUP) sources and protected methionine (Met) supplementation. Four ruminallycannulated, multiparous Holstein cows averaging 193±13 days in milk were used in a 4×4 Latin square design to assess N utilization and milk production responses to ...

Effect of inclusion of different levels of Leucaena silage on rumen microbial population and microbial protein synthesis in dairy steers fed on rice straw

OBJECTIVE Leucaena leucocephala (Leucaena) is a perennial tropical legume that can be directly grazed or harvested and offered to ruminants as hay, silage, or fresh. However, Leucaena contain phenolic compounds, which are considered anti-nutritional factors as these may reduce intake, digestibility and thus animal performance. Therefore, the objective of this experiment was to determine effects...

Bovine somatotropin and rumen-undegradable protein effects on skeletal growth in prepubertal dairy heifers.

The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of dietary rumen-undegradable protein (RUP) and bovine somatotropin (bST) during the period from weaning until puberty on body weight (BW) and skeletal growth rates and age at puberty. Fifty-one Holstein heifers at 90 d of age were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups consisting of 0.1 mg/kg BW per day of bST and 2% added dietary RUP...
